Fr. Hugh ConnollyChaplain in Paris

January 5th 2021,

Dear PJ and the MacGabhann Family,

I just wanted to convey my sympathy to you on your bereavement. As a family you are very well known to the Irish in Paris and many people at mass last week here in the Irish Chaplaincy spoke fondly of Mary and her beautiful singing voice.

It is always so difficult to lose the person that you have shared a good portion of your life with and also shared no doubt much good humour, enjoyment and love as well as all the ups and downs of life. Mary’s passing will be a very sad time for you, all your loved ones and your entire family circle.

All of you are in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time.

May the good Lord grant eternal rest to Mary and may he grant you the MacGabhann family and all who mourn her passing his comfort and consolation.

We have offered Mass here in the little Chapelle St Patrick for the eternal repose of her soul.

May she rest in Peace.

Mary was an incredibly talented Finance manager. she could have continued as a high flying IBM Executive. Instead, she decided to devote the last 10 years to her life to her husband, sons, family and do good around her. She distributed her talents without fear. she gave herself to the others. She personally helped me, listening and praying, while our adopted daughter was going through a frightening crisis. And rejoiced when the “prodigal” daughter came back. and gained her peace back.
I think Mary’s family is very lucky. Although a short life, she gave so much around her, and always all smiles on her face ! what a joy !
I am now participating to the funeral service from Paris. Thanks to Covid, I am able to share this moment of remembrance and love with you all.
God bless

Dear MacGabhann Family,
With Mary, the world lost a wonderful woman. She was such a loving, giving, hard working and dedicated person who touched so many people and lives and will not be forgotten by anybody who met her. I learned a lot from her and will always treasure our friendship!
Her family meant the world to her, and she was so very proud of each and every one of you! I was so glad that she was still able to welcome her first grandchild and to return to her beloved Ireland for her final weeks. She put in a good fight to be able to be with you as long as possible. Whilst you all must feel devastated now, my heart goes out to you. She will always be with you!
The service was a beautiful good-bye to her and I was glad to be able to attend from afar.
God bless you all!
Susanne

Dear PJ and the Boys,

I met Mary a long time ago in IBM. She was then and ever after a shining star. We met a few times recentlly on Christmas morning in Ann’s and it was lovely to see you both again and to meet the boys.

I can only imagine how you feel. I hope the memories of the wonderful times you had together will help you through these difficult times.

With our sympathies…Paddy and Sirkku Moore
