Without doubt my favourite teacher from my school days. Declan brought passion to everything he did and showed me how to connect with what I am doing. Anyone who can connect young men to a subject like PEIG has a real talent for teaching. I learned so much from him and can honestly say that it is because of him and colleagues like him that I am the man I am today. Rest in Pease Declan.

Mr Fitzpatrick was a phenomenal teacher and a true gentleman. His commitment, professionalism, and passion for his subjects were inspirational, and the lessons and guidance he shared have stayed with me to this day. It was a real privilege to be in his class.

One of the most influential figures in my life, and all he did was teach me English for 2 years in secondary school. The most selfless man on the planet. I never heard him say a bad word about anyone, and I never heard anyone say a bad word about him. One of a kind. Thank you Mr.Fitzpatrick.

Declan was a phenomenal teacher and always went above and beyond to help his students reach their potential. To have such a caring and devoted Irish teacher was a privilege and each class spent with Declan was a joy. Always smiling, he always had an encouraging word for every student and was just a wonderful person. His ability to make Irish enjoyable was unmatched. I am very grateful to have been taught by Declan and he will always be remembered for making a difference in his students lives. My deepest condolences to Declan’s family at the loss of such a great man.

Niall O'DwyerFormer Colleague

I would like to extend my sympathies to Concepta and Declan’s wider family. I had the good fortune to work alongside so many great teachers in Templeogue College, but I think it is fair to say that none were revered by the students in quite the same way that Declan was. His dedication to his vocation was widely admired by his colleagues.
