FIELD, JOAN (Nee BIRTHISTLE) (Blanchardstown, Dublin 15) peacefully at home on 26 January 2021 after a long and hard fight with cancer. Latin Scholar and Poetry lover. Beloved wife of Eugene. Much loved Mother of Gillian, David & Paula with her partner David. Beloved Grandmother to Zoe and to Samuel. Sadly missed by her dear friends Christina, Ann and Margot and all her many mountaineering friends and friends from the Classical Association. The only child of Paddy and Constance Birthistle, Sandymount, Dublin 4.

A private funeral will take place due to government advice regarding public gatherings. When the current circumstances have passed, we look forward to celebrating Joan’s life with friends and extended family at a later date.
