PHELAN, James (Jim) (Palmerstown, Dublin 20) March 29th., 2020 (peacefully) in the loving care of the staff at Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown. Beloved husband of the late Catherine and cherished and much loved father of Amanda and Darina and grandfather of Sarah, Claire and Catherine; Sadly missed by his loving daughters and especially his youngest granddaughter Catherine, brothers Denis and Peter, sister Jane, Darina's and Amanda's partners Derek and Rob, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends, and neighbours, pupils and fellow terpsichoreans.
May he rest in peace.
Due to government advice regarding public gatherings, a private funeral and memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Our family would like to express our gratitude to all the management and staff at Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown for their exceptional care and kindness shown to Jim at all times.

I am saddened to hear of the loss of your Dad. Thanks to Facebook and Paul Campion I learnt of his passing in South Africa. He was a legend to me growing up on Palmerstown Drive. It seems fitting Paul Campion shared this news as he seemed to me to be like an extra member of your family growing up. I remember your Dad and your Mom well going up and down in the taxi for years. Your Dad was a rock of support all these years with happy chance visits and long telephone conversations. He tore off my L plate with glee and was at my graduation… fond fond memories… He’ll be sorely missed and I send you my sincere condolences.
Jim was such a wonderful man, so kind to me when I first started dancing and continued to be as the years passed. So sorry to hear of his passing may he RIP.
Deeply shocked and saddened at the passing of Jim. A valued past member of the tango committee and had many years at the Palma Fest with Jim.
I am so saddened and shocked to hear of Jim’s passing. My sincere condolences to Jim’s daughters, whom he spoke about to me with such love, during our many driving lessons.
