Fitzpatrick (Castleknock, Dublin 15 and formerly of Navan Road, Dublin 7 and former teacher in Templeogue College and Ashfield College) and longstanding Liverpool F.C. supporter.  

October 12th. 2021 (peacefully), at home.

Declan, beloved husband of Concepta (Cepta). 

Sadly missed by his loving wife, parents Maeve and Tony, sister Caitriona, brother Chris, brothers-in-law Ken and Pat, sisters-in-law Patricia and Michelle, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. R.I.P. 

Removal to The Church of St. Thomas the Apostle, Laurel Lodge, Castleknock on Saturday morning (16th October 2021) arriving for Requiem Mass at 11.00 am. The capacity of the Church is limited to 50% but the Mass may be viewed by following the link below;

<p>Declan and I ( and 25 other classmates) spent our formative years together at St Pauls <span class="caps">CBS</span> , Brunswick St,D7. My fondest memories are the classroom chats on a Friday morning discussing the previous evening’s edition of Top of the Pops ! He was a big fan of David Bowie and going to the “flics” ( cinema). I can still see Declan entering the classroom, his blue-black wavy hair , blue crombie coat with his Liverpool scarf tucked neatly underneath. He was always so friendly and full of action .Lots of laughs .. He stood out in that Leaving Cert 6A Class of 1977 . Declan was just brilliant in all higher course subjects especially Maths and English. He could express himself very well and was much respected. We would take the 70 Bus together sometimes. He would get off at Navan Road and I would continue on to Dunboyne.Our lives took separate roads afterwards but Declan somehow always stayed in my memory. My deepest ( belated) sympathies to Declan’s wife Concepta , his parents , sister and Chris his brother. May the Road Always Rise to Meet him.</p>

<p>I had the pleasure of working alongside Declan since 2004 when I became chaplain in TC. Declan attended Mass most mornings and our exchanges were mostly about the ethos of the school which he was very concerned about. He was admired by the students and staff for his commitment to motivating and coaching his students to achieve at the highest level. I shared an interest in Liverpool with him. His was in <span class="caps">LFC</span>, mine was that I had lived there and indeed now live in Liverpool since retiring. <br> I hope you are comforted by your faith and the knowledge that Declan was a once in a life time person. Our world is a better place because of him. He is without doubt Resting in the arms of our Creator.</p>

                                  Declan and I ( and 25 other classmates) spent our formative years together at St Pauls CBS , Brunswick St,D7. My fondest memories are the classroom chats on a Friday morning discussing the previous evening’s edition of Top of the Pops ! He was a big fan of David Bowie and going to the “flics” ( cinema). I can still see Declan entering the classroom, his blue-black wavy hair , blue crombie coat with his Liverpool scarf tucked neatly underneath. He was always so friendly and full of action .Lots of laughs .. He stood out in that Leaving Cert 6A Class of 1977 . Declan was just brilliant in all higher course subjects especially Maths and English. He could express himself very well and was much respected. We would take the 70 Bus together sometimes. He would get off at Navan Road and I would continue on to Dunboyne.Our lives took separate roads afterwards but Declan somehow always stayed in my memory. My deepest ( belated) sympathies to Declan’s wife Concepta , his parents , sister and Chris his brother. May the Road Always Rise to Meet him.

                                  My sincere condolences to the family for your loss. Declan taught me in Ashfield and was the kindest most genuine teacher there- he was an absolute pleasure to be around and have so much time to every single student. May he rest in peace

                                  One of the most influential figures in my life, and all he did was teach me English for 2 years in secondary school. The most selfless man on the planet.                                   Deeply saddened and shocked by the tragic news. A true gentleman and incredibly inspirational figure in my life. His meticulous preparation for each lesson, dedication and generosity was obvious for all to see. He brought the best out of everyone he came in contact with because he inspired people to reach his levels of dedication. I consider myself so lucky to have been able to spend years in his classroom and will forever be grateful for all his hard work and teachings. The world is a better place because of Mr. Fitzpatrick.                                   I had the pleasure of working alongside Declan since 2004 when I became chaplain in TC. Declan attended Mass most mornings and our exchanges were mostly about the ethos of the school which he was very concerned about. He was admired by the students and staff for his commitment to motivating and coaching his students to achieve at the highest level. I shared an interest in Liverpool with him. His was in LFC, mine was that I had lived there and indeed now live in Liverpool since retiring.
                                  I hope you are comforted by your faith and the knowledge that Declan was a once in a life time person. Our world is a better place because of him. He is without doubt Resting in the arms of our Creator.
