Edna James Philip and family,
Ron was a true gentleman, and kind and considerate teacher. I had the fortune of sitting next to him at a dinner in Cork,he was great company late into the night.
He will be sadly missed Knoch 1980

Dear Edna and family, how very sad to hear the news. It would have been great to have had the chance to meet him again.
My earliest memories of Ron were: man with very English accent, a stern look which could just as easily break into a smile, short and very nimble for an ‘old guy’, an introduction to the word “kit” for the first time …and the great importance attached to “looking after it”.
“No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it”. (Heb 12:11)
He was disciplined, principled and kind. He could be tough – but mostly because he cared and wanted these young boys and men before him to be best that they could be and to not waste the opportunities afforded to them. Sometimes it worked out and sometimes it didn’t. Fear and fun wrapped up in one bundle. It wasn’t all about winning …and in those days we didn’t win very much, but for those who were willing he offered every encouragement and was generous with his time. He will be missed but not forgotten.
“Surely goodness and kindness shall follow me all the days of my life.
In the Lord’s own house shall I dwell for ever and ever.” (Psalm 23)

Dear Edna, James, Philip and family,

my deepest’s sympathies to you all on Ron’s passing. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time for you. Ron was my first rugby coach in Castleknock along with Mr McDevitt. He taught us the basics of game as well as the infamous ‘bull-toe place kick’ that he himself had perfected. This started me on path with rugby and I have never looked back since. He was a real jack-of-all-trades in that he thought us athletics as well in the summer. A true gentleman in every sense, he will be very much missed. Rest in Peace Ron.

We met our neighbours, Ron and Edna, shortly after
we moved into Roselawn in late 1972.
Over the years Ron proved to be a great presence.
He had a ready smile and a terrific sense of fun
On meeting him he would light up your day!
Ron was always willing to help if needed.
