My deepest sympathies to John’s family. I knew John for many years during school. Visited his house, played records (soft cell, Japan, Prince and such like), went to town, did the school magazine together, rifled through second-hand clothes stores and was compelled to eat Hari Krishna vegetarian food by John while my latest vinyl record melted on a radiator nearby (literally)…. I just looked him up online, after many many years of no contact, because I might be in Paris in the coming weeks and I discover that he has passed. He was a lovely fellow and we had some great times as mouthy teenagers writing corny articles in the school magazine and causing Conor Kelly, our beloved English teacher, untold amounts of trouble! It was Conor Kelly who sent him off to Paris after we finished secondary school and in a sense redefined his life – a great teacher!

Well, damn it anyway. I’m sorry to hear this. I can only remember the fun and laughs we had as kids….

My sincerest sympathies to Didier and John’s family.
